Polish version

New technologies of coding and processing of information constitute a developing field of research particularily in physics, computer science, mathematics, chemistry and many technical sciences.

As a result of a considerable progress in research in quantum mechanics, there has also appeared a possibility of processing, registration and transmission of information at a purly quantum level.

Since the mid 1990, a sudden acceleration of reserch in a new interdisciplinary field, generaly called quantum information science has been observed.

Quantum information science creates possibilities of overcoming difficulties of classical information science such as lack of sufficient quick algorithms for solving certain problems, problems in classical cryptography etc.

Many devices, which are under investigations of atomics, moleculars, solid, and quantum optics have a chance to become a base of constructing of quantum computer. There are also verified algorithms, which are use as software of quantum computer.

Despite undoubted patrial success there are many difficulties in experiments and there is a wild field for theoretical investigation.

In a field of physics bases of process information Poland has really considerable potential. Units, which are gathered into network Labolatory of Physical Foundations of Information Processing in a form National Network created by the State Commitee for Scientific Research are engaged in research at world level as follows. :

  • physical foundations of coding and processing of information ,
  • thermodynamics of processing information,
  • a theory of quantum information and analysis of geometry of quantum states,
  • an investigation of influence of chaos and decoherention on quality,
  • an analysis of transfer of information in nonlinear phenomenon, ,
  • transform information via methods of quantum optics,
  • processing of information in the presence of noisy,
  • physical bases of processing of information in biological and mezoscopic systems,,
  • limitations in processing of quantum information, following from fundamental physical laws.
